Off Squarespace. From 18 seconds to under 3 on a phone.
We moved a Langley counselling practice off Squarespace, onto its own site and a new domain, and turned booking into one clear path. On a phone, the main content now shows in 2.6 seconds, down from 18.3.
Where she was
Mahsa runs Roma Villa Counselling, a team practice in Langley, BC. The site sat on Squarespace at romavillacounselling.com. On a phone, Google’s own speed test took 18.3 seconds to show the main content.
What was actually broken
The wait, and the path to booking.
Eighteen seconds is a long time to stare at a blank screen. It’s longer when you’ve just worked up the nerve to look for a counsellor. And the people who waited it out hit a booking page with a flat list of 14 options and no help picking one.
What we built
- A new site, built from scratch in July 2026, fast on a phone before anything else.
- The move to romavilla.ca on August 12, 2026. Every old romavillacounselling.com address redirects to its new page, old Squarespace blog links included, so search listings and shared links kept working.
- Her email moved to Google Workspace on the new domain, so the practice runs on one managed account instead of a scatter of logins.
- One guided path into Jane, her booking system, in place of the list of 14. Plus a cleanup of her Jane services, which Mahsa approved line by line.
- A site for the whole team: Mahsa as founder, a page for each counsellor, and a careers page.
- Pages in Farsi.
- A 42-question FAQ, with intake answered up front and the insurers she direct bills named.
- A crisis line on every page, plus a privacy policy and terms written for a counselling practice.
- A map and directions on the contact page.
- Her own editor at cms.romavilla.ca, so she can change any page, service, team bio or blog post without us.
What happened
- Main content on a phone in 2.6 seconds, down from 18.3. Same test both times: Google PageSpeed Insights, mobile. The old site on July 3, 2026, the live site on September 23, 2026.
- 96 out of 100 for mobile performance on PageSpeed Insights, on the live site.
- 94 out of 100 on our site audit, September 20, 2026.
- Search rankings and bookings get judged in December, once the new domain has had time to settle. They go on this page then, not before.
What made this different
We didn’t sell a redesign. We fixed the wait. Then we cut the choices between “I need help” and “booked” down to one clear path. The pretty part came last.
